“Reducing food waste is essential because there are millions of people in the world who go hungry every day. I try to reduce food waste in a number of ways.
I try to:
-buy only what I need and plan meals and make a shopping list
-use oddly- shaped or bruised fruits and vegetables instead of throwing tham away just because they do not look perfect as they often taste the same. I can use mature fruit or vegetables for soups, smoothies, juices and desserts.
-take smaller portions at home or share larger dishes at restaurants
-freeze the food I have made but haven’t eaten for later or use the leftovers as an ingredient in another meal
-buy local produce by supporting family farmers and small businesses in my local community
-use less water for example by barning off the water while brushing my teeth “
